Delicious Mediterranean Food in Arizona

Fata Morgana - A green smoothie is sitting on a table next to a plate of food.

Fata Morgana is one of those hidden Arizona gems that is sharing great mediterranean cuisine with us. Tucked away right off the corner of Scottsdale Road and Shea (Mercer Lane), this spot has a ton of great dishes you have to try.

I love how when I first arrived I was greeted with a friendly welcome. You always know the meal is going to be good when the staff is friendly and you can tell they actually enjoy being there.

To start the meal off, you have to get some fresh pita and some of the dips they have to offer. I got to try the Matboucha, Babaanoosh, and Hummus. Each one of these is unique on their own and I honestly enjoyed each one equally. If I had to pick a favorite of the 3, I'm always a sucker for hummus!

The menu at Fata Morgana has a nice variety of choices, whether you are looking for some smaller bites or full size platters, you will find a lot of great options. The Pita Lachmajoon, which is like an open face meat pie, is a great choice. You get juicy beef on top of pita, some carmelized onions and a drizzle of tahini on top. Served with a side of red cabbage which pairs really nicely with this dish. Schnitzel poppers are always a favorite because who doesn't love crispy chicken tenders. Perfectly crispy and topped with a sweet chili sauce, anyone will enjoy these. The last thing I tried was their shawarma sliders. These are chicken based, each one is fully stuffed and you get a ton of chicken shawarma inside these pita pockets. I will have to come back on a Sunday or Tuesday when they also serve fresh beef shawarma as well.

Lastly, I always say you have to save room for dessert and their frozen mint lemonade is a must try. Not only is it perfect for the crazy hot summer weather in Arizona, but it's light and refreshing.

Overall, when it comes to mediterranean food, Fata Morgana does not disappoint. From the friendly staff, to all the delicious food, this is a must try place!
